Following a successful tender, Triad was commissioned to create a new branding for the University of Cumbria.
Our challenge was to develop the University’s branding and create a more professional and contemporary image whilst retaining the main characteristics of the previous logo.
It was agreed that the word “Cumbria” should be emphasised and we developed a series of logo concepts, which explored the ways in which we could create this more contemporary approach. We recommended a more vibrant green to replace the previous colour green and also considered how the leaves could be used to create graphic icons, which would enable greater creative potential of the branding. A more modern typeface named Aller was chosen.
The original number of 6 leaves gave us the opportunity to consider how this could relate to the University’s 6 “Subject Areas”. In parallel with this development, we also developed ideas for the University’s house style and advertising using the leaves approach. We worked with local Cumbrian artist Richard Shilling, who produces wonderful land art, to create a colourful and impactful theme.
We considered promotional messages to complement the University’s strap line “Great Careers Start Here” including “Fulfil your greatest potential” and “Great Careers, Great Support, Great Opportunities”. Using these ideas, the “Leaves” concept was established for the University’s corporate and recruitment advertising, both online and in printed media.
We recently completed the University’s new Education Prospectus and we are currently developing the Health Prospectus.Back to Blog
